Feel the Pulse of China’s Greater Bay Area

Experience digital Hong Kong

Experience digital Hong Kong

Shenzhen, known as “China’s Silicon Valley”, has transformed from a tiny fishing village to a metropolis booming both technologically and economically in a short 30 years. Young as it is, Shenzhen now has a population of 15 million people, with the average age just under 30 years old. The burgeoning city is not only home to industry leaders like Tencent, Huawei, DJI, which are among the most established Chinese companies and a force to be reckoned with worldwide, but also boasts a vibrant startup scene: startups are springing into being at an average rate of 1,000 per day in AI, IoT, hardware, etc.

Bordering Shenzhen to the South, Hong Kong is located in the mouth of the Pearl River Delta. As one of the major international financial center, Hong Kong is known for its open and competitive business environment, its sound regulatory framework, as well as its low corporate tax rate. On top of those financial big guns, Hong Kong also boasts an unique startup scene in blockchain and fin-tech.

The newly-built HZM Bridge

The newly-built HZM Bridge

The newly-built HZMB (Hong Kong - Zhuhai - Macau Bridge), recently opened in October 2018, connected the these mega-cities as well as Shenzhen and united them under the “Greater Bay Area” in Southern China, the hub of tech innovation, manufacturing and finance in China, and even in Asia.

During previous DDV Dialog Tours in Beijing and Shanghai, we’ve visited several tech companies that are actually originated or headquartered in Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Unlike the mainland cities of Beijing or Shanghai, the Greater Bay Area has integrated tech innovation, manufacturing and finance in its relatively free market like nowhere else. Join us in this trip and dive deeper into this rising Greater Bay area, feel its vibrant and unique pulse of technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
